A little about our bar
Our serving hours are 12-11pm Sunday-Thursday and 12-1am on a Friday and Saturday.
We offer a wide variety of alcoholic and no alcoholic beverages. On tap alone we have 5 lagers, 2 ciders, 1 craft beer and of course Guinness as no bar would be complete without. Furthermore, we have all the different types of spirits you could need.
Our range of real ales on offer include the rotating classics like Black sheep, Doombar and Hobgoblin. We also our pride to support small local microbreweries like Mobberley Fine Ales, Redwillow Brewery and Crossbay brewery to name but a few. We also aim to satisfy all types of pallets be it you love hoppy pale ale to malty stouts
For all you wine connoisseurs we have a fantastic range of grape to please all taste buds. Once again we pride ourselves on using a local wine supplier "Corks Out". So if you enjoy our wine that much they are available to buy in their local store 5 minutes walk into the city centre. We aim to always offer Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Chenin Blanc, Merlot, Malbec, Shiraz, Rioja and Cabernet Blush. However, our wine menu is consistently changing and updating.
A little about our food
Our food service hours are 12-9pm Monday-Saturday and 12-8 on a Sunday.
All our dishes are prepared in house using fresh ingredients sourced from local suppliers; be it our vegetables sourced from Hawarden farm on the outskirts of Chester, to our meat products sourced from the award winning local butcher Noel Baker and Farmers Meats.
As well as our À la carte menu we boast a constantly changing specials menu, where there is additional vegetarian options for our beloved herbivores.
We take great pride in our Sunday lunch experience where, on the day, we prepare a selection of eight locally sourced vegetables. Not forgetting our famous sticky red cabbage, real stock gravy and homemade Yorkshire puddings with one or two twists. So come join us this Sunday, sit back and relax in front of our beautiful log burning fire place, grab yourself a Sunday newspaper, not forgetting a pint of fine local real ale and enjoy our friendly service.
A little about our Inn
Our Inn has been looking after travelling folk since 1714. Not much has changed since then; we do now have a car park instead of stables, hot water and electric though. The rooms keep within the traditional Tudor feel of the building. Boasting beautiful oak beams, elegant original windows and comfy beds some even with four poster beds. The corridors and squeaky floor boards, old picture and paintings. Apart from the odd modern amenities you truly feel like you have stepped back in time.
Since buying the business in March 2012 thousands of pounds has been spent trying to bring the Ye Olde Kings Head back to it's former glory. In November 2012, the property had an extensive refurbishment throughout the bar and restaurant areas, every ensuite bathroom was also replaced and redecorated to a high standard.
All our guests who stay with us will be treated to a traditional full English breakfast in the morning along tea and coffee. We also offer a selection of cereals, yogurts and fresh fruit. There is also limited onsite car parking available for a small charge please contact us for details.
Our Little Claim To Fame
We have been very lucky to host a few celebrity guests here at the Kings Head. The natural beauty of the building must draw them in as we have also appeared on a few TV shows and films. Back in 2014 we had the pleasure to host an episode of Really TV shows Most Haunted. They spent the night exploring and investigation the well know paranormal activity of the building. You can watch this epidote on Youtube. Fast forward to 2015 and we spent the day hosting to the comedian Patrick Monahan and reality TV Star Rebeca Vaughan as they filmed for their new pilot comedy show. Near the end of 2015 we had the pleasure to appear on BBC 2 show Terry and Mason’s Great Food Trip. They came to indulge our intriguing Civil War feast.
